De one with Her 51st Birthday

Rain in the day, the sky and the heart

17th December 2006. Yesterday. It marked a significant day as it's her 51st birthday. Supposed to be calling for celebration however the main character ain't present.

The rain stopped when I went out around 3+ in the afternoon. But not for long, the drizzling started to appear. Staining the white rose in my hand with moisture. The cold air.. the grey clouds.. screaming silence... all setting as though conjured to form a depressing atmosphere. As I made my way in the drizzle to Mandai Columbarium.

For a very long time, I sang happy birthday to my mummy upfront. It's a pity, I've had not the courage to sing this to her when she was alive. As usual, spent some time before leaving.

Thinking back, we've not been celebration mummy's birthday. I recalled when I was young. When we would laze around at home on a cloudy Saturday. There was once, she was complaining as she did her normal household chores despite it was her birthday, she wasn't spared of any rest. Thinking back, she never celebrated her birthdays. Only mine and Jimson's. It was really embarrassing we never did for her in return.

Today was different. Instead of many stalks of roses, I only brought one. A fully bloomed one.
Instead of having all-black attired, I only put on a black top. Nevertheless, it's her birthday. My late-mummy's 51st birthday.

:: Happy Birthday Mummy. Forever loved in my heart.
