De one with Hong Kong 2008 (Part I)

13th - 20th Dec 2008Sincere apologies to my supportive readers for the arrival of this long-awaited blog. You see I couldn't help being lazy nowadays after a long 8-days holiday - something to calm all that's happened during the year.

Without further ado, comeon hopping into my memory in this never-done-before mega-blog of collective blogs.

Ready? Fasten your spectacles, have your finger hot on the "down button"/scroll cursor and let's go . - ~ ^ ' `*

De one with Hong Kong Here I Come!

Left house flustered, got into a cab and travelled to pick my travel buddy, Mohan, at his house. That accomplished, I complained to him about how my aunt and cousin keep annoyingly blubbered about how I'll be late and missing the plane. It's so irritating to have people "making noise" when you're in the rush hour.

Our touchdown, the first gag I told Mohan was about how those people lined outside the arrival gallery, were my "fans" waiting for my arrival. Lol. Ok, not funny. The both of us faced alittle "nick of time" situation as we considered between purchasing the "3 day pass"/"Octopus card" for our transit purposes. Pity we'd only realised the outweighing benefits (which consist of trip to and frown on the airport express plus 3 days of unlimited travel on the MTR) of the "3 day pass" while onboard the airport express. Whereas constant deduction for every trip we make if using the "Octopus card" (something just like our EZ-link).

Making our way to Kimberley, the two of us (I didn't have breakfast/lunch) ventured for food at this restaurant laid across the street opposite our hotel. I have to admit we looked helpless when it comes to their ordering procedures with limited experience and language barrier. Thank goodness, we managed with my Mandarin and their knowledge of English. After a S$15+ dinner, we headed along our area (Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui). I was desperate for cologne and got the latest "Gucci" for man at SaSa (which was located within every 10 metres around the vincinity - very successful compared to Singapore's).

De one with "Seh Mey"?

I believe everyone couldn't be more familiar with the fact that dim sum was a "must-try" in HK. These people have frequent dim sum sessions, like how we have tea/coffee on daily basis! Out of our 8 days, 4 days we had dim sum for lunch. Let's see, we went to one (which I forgot the name) along Nathan Road, Jordan; Maxim at Cityhall; Ming's Court (posh environment) and the one at our hotel. Shiu Mai and Hakkao were the "indispensibles", the rest we tried different stuff at the varying restaurants. There was this glutinuous riceball with mango stuffing. It's nirvana after bitting into it. Ho sei wor!

We note that some Hongkongers practice washing their utensils at the table before use. Which explains why at the very first restuarant we went, a glass bowl and a pot of hot water were served. Puzzled and uaccustomed, I asked the waiteress how we were supposed to go about washing the cup. She poured the hot water into our cups and left. The amusing thing was, the glass bowl was gone even before we emptied our water into it. Damn. I had to ask gain for the glass bowl. Abit paiseh looking dumb la.

I read from Mohan's lonely planet book that the some Chinese are particular over sanitization. Which explains why some resturants serve two pairs of chopsticks. One for serving and the other for self-feeding. It usually comes in two colors too! Mohan and I agrued over this at Ming's Court. I spent my attention observing what people around us were doing! Mohan can't help being amused by my being a "conformist". I thought, it was education! tsk tsk.

The normal Hongkong food limits down to Wanton noodles, Pork chop, Beef and more pig's organs. Well, there are a couple of japanese, korean, Western and even Indian cruisines. Mohan doesn't eat Jap. Western food included our lazy visits to Mc for breakfast, Delifrance.

One night, I was dripping from my nose and this was an amazing discovery. An "East meets West" dish (it's actually Hong Kong mee baked with cheese and ham). Never ever seen in Singapore before!!

Mohan wanted to try this famous dessert. I never knew how prominent it was until I heard it from my colleagues when they asked. Ring a bell? It's called "Tsu Liu Xiang" - the brand name of the shops which sells mango and other fresh fruits-laid on ice desserts. Hmmm.. Most of the time, we were just bloated by the time we ate that.

De one with Encounter with Buddha
Come our 3rd morning, we woke up early and took about an hour to get to Lantau so as to pay a visit to the Giant Buddha. While transferring from one MTR to another, I dropped my wallet by accident. Thank goodness, these passengers were super selfless and helpful. This young-looking guy immediately picked up my wallet and rushed to me to return just before I approached the door. Hongkongers = Morale citizens. Or Buddha knew I was coming? *shrugs*

The MTR was fast. Nothing as fun when co mpared to this minibus (No.23) which embarked on a bumpy, road-winding ride to bring us up to the mountain on which Buddha sits.

It was chilly despite the sun's glaring down. There's this circular, three-staged parlor with flags on the tri-circled circumference. I believe and obeserved people actually stand in the middle and make wishes while facing in the direction of the Buddha. Me? I like what I told Mohan, "Buddha only grants wishes to good people. For the average people (who have yet to accomplish whole-hearted goodness), well..Buddha can only grant forgiveness and wisdom to remind us to be good." Not a convictious offense. Just a mere personal opinion on MY personal blog. *"V"hand-sign* We..or I prayed at the temple, something I take it as a fun experience. People were dropping coins into the donation box even before they pray. I did the reversed. Just don't understand why drop your wishing coin even before you make your wish? Hehe.

The chrysanthemum, catus and lotuses at the temple grounds were enchantingly beautiful! Couldn't resist sharing these here!
Then, we climbed what? 90 steps? before we met the magnificant Buddha which sits on a three-level platform, with six erm...fairies (3 on each sides) offering different gifts to the Enlighted one. Me? I'm considered the 7th gift! (as below) I was filled with profused enthusiasm so I climbed the steps in a hast. Mohan keep reiterating "You're supposed to think of the Buddha as you climb the steps. Not climbing faster than other people". Bet Clara would have thought likewise. I simply was too excited whenever it comes to climbing stairs. Of course, the army bunk building was a method of different thing. Hehe.

De one with Disneyland HK!

If anywhere were to be located "Wonderland on Earth, there's no better place than Disneyland!! Endless delights and joy fills your heart from the moment you set foot onto this "dream come true" compound!

I droved a jeep..

Flashed my smile for the camera from day...

to night...

with "erupting geyser" too!

Appeared as special guest in Toy Story 3...

Met Princesses who waved and blew kisses (at me? *blushed*) when their Princes are nowhere to be seen....

Ate candy-foss, calm my nerves abit... as I watched the spectacular "Let It Snow" Parade...

Apart from the above, rides such as Space-mountain (thrilling roller coaster in the galaxy of stars), Tarzan river boat (I read it was a World famous), It's a Small World (see below) were not to be missed.

Well, I wished we came earlier, I spent quite awhile at the merchandise, browsing for sovenirs. And guess what!? I was successful in "kidnapping" the chipmunks when they were "patronising" the merchandise store. Had the cashier girl as my accomplice. Brilliant! Hehehe.

However, spending too long in the cold weather conjured running nose. Thanks to me not heeling Mohan's advice to put on something that'd keep me warm. Oh saint. Nonetheless, the dazzling fireworks displayed at eight (after waiting doing nothing for 1 hour) momentarily suppressed my flu. Made a clip but couldn't upload. So I attached the link to a youtube clip in courtesy of mutatedsilian. What you'll find in there is exactly the same magical display I've witnessed! (don't wait further, click on the picture below to get redirected!)

I heard it'd be even more stunning at other Disneylands. But, I guess this one at Disneyland HK was good enough for me. Everybody exclaimed "wow" during the finale (well, it seems the exclaimation was thoughout the video). It certainly melt our hearts!

~Disneyland HK: Elixir of Youth!~

Well well, that's all for Part 1. Stay tune for more in Part 2 coming soon!!

De one with Right Things

Heart-warming day

As much as I was rather disappointed that I wasted my time shopping for a jacket (Really detest shopping without getting anything), optimism reminded me of how equally glad I was because I did all the right things this evening.

More specifically, there were three things I'd love to share, that I did which couldn't have derived more contentment!

First and foremost, I am so proud of myself for saving the money which could have ended up buying a jacket. Think, it's wiser to get one from HK Disneyland? Hehe.. oh, that will have to be after "Chip & Dale kidnap" operation. *ssshhhh! >)

Next and more importantly, I went home early and bought my ah ma her favourite "Nyg Tau Hu" for dinner. I had healthy subway, love the vegetables man... healthy healthy!

Two and a half days more to HK. Looks like my Aeroworld unable to wrap up. At least I'm glad I completed 89% of the ground work required, earlier than I expected. Cheese!

De one with K-elebration

Ok-day

Second day at Changi Airfreight Centre. Although I never really like the idea of lunching alone, independence took precedence as I needed to shortened my lunch time to allow more time for audit.

And just as I planned to skip lunch, the gastric juice were rioting in my stomach as they didn't get their food in the morning. And I went jogging in the morning. Oops. Guess what I had for lunch, Nasi Briyani. Only completed half of the the plate (my usual appetite). Nevertheless, I guess it was as sinful lah.

Dinner wasn't that good. Went for K cum buffet for celebration of Rebecca's birthday. The buffet was really limited. Only some thrifty sushi, bee hoon, I don't know..what else I saw.. vegetable.. I tell you, it's like 1/10 of the standard at Sakura (and personally, I deemed Sakura to be lower than average place for buffet).

Sang a few songs, mostly Jay Chou, Gary Chow. Guess nobody enjoyed hearing to my voice. Haha. It's abit high-pitched today. Well.. grateful my manager was encouraging me on to sing, else, I'd be too shy and lazy to take the mic.

Efi had a great voice. Think it's a pity she never sign up to be a Singapore Idol contestant. Alice was all about English songs. Tan Sing entertained us with his unique taste for music. Hui min was sang "Blah blah Blacksheep" Omg. The rest were ok. We ended the session with "最長的電影". It was hilarious because the chorus "gimme 2 minutes more" describes exactly how we feel about having the chance to sing this last song despite our time slot was over.

Oh well, good day, great evening. What more can I ask for.

De one with Unprepared

5 days to HK

I don't like being un-organisaed. But the work's too much. By the time I reach home, hit the showers without delay, moisturise my body and eat. Then, blog and doze asleep.

Thankfully, managed to do abit of shopping today. Rumours speaks the truth, it's getting cold in HK and I still have yet to get a thermal jacket to keep me warm. Guurr.. nobody's free. And I hate this, yet to pack, decide my collection of clothes to bring.. omg, so last minute.

Ok, I know, I should have better efficient my time to blog for packing. Darn it. But hey, if I don't blog, I'd feel.. uneasy.. and how are you readers, gonna be updated about me?

Today I went to Changi Airfrieght Centre for out-of-office audit. Don't know why, the bullet-train in me just couldn't work. Sales doubled this financial year, causing an imperative need to have my testings increased. Man... delay my schedules. Only 3 days left.

Looks like I 'd have to skip lunch to free more time, in order to achieve my target for closurer, report and everything by Friday night. Of course, experience presents alternatives such as shortcuts to expendite my audit. However, my conscience forbides the coherent risks involved. Procedures need to be observed to safeguard not only statutory requirements but also delivering quality and assurance to client, as well as the interest of my Company.

Think, Thursday has to allow for a last minute shopping alone (since nobody's free) to get all that I could be missing. 5 days more.. uurrgghh.

De one with Rebecca's Present

Selamat Hari Raya

The weather seemed to change. I bet the temperature in Singapore must have dropped by a few degree Celsius. Lol. Too used to the heat but hey, guess the cold wouldn't hurt. Anyway, Christmas' coming, so must be be the North winds. Wonder if Santa's gonna be blown here too. Oh please Santa, grant me one wish.

D messaged me in the afternoon he saw Nat Ho whilst in Vivo. He was exclaiming how short Nat Ho turned out to be. I said " why are you sharing this with me?". Guess what he replied? He was excited to see celebrity. I swear three huge bits of perspiration rolls down my temple. Haha. Really ma, what's so special if you bump into a mediacorp artiste? I used to recall my late-band instructor, Mr Hashim, used to comment: "TV stars are also human. Not like they have additional eyes or noses." Although he meant to reminding us to refrain ourselves when we meet celebrities at Chingay or NDP rehearsals, I couldn't agree more with him back then.

I mean, I don't understand why people become "not themselves", exclaimed near funatic when they meet or brush pass celebrity? So.. unglamourous. Haha. Anyway, people have their own reactions la.. no right or wrong.. people's behaviour are like live-screenplay.. to me, people like this entertain my life.. Opps.. Hehe.

After venturing out these passed two and half days and night, I actually planned to be a good boy who stays at home until my colleague YW messaged me to ask if I'd like to join them to shop for Rebecca's present. I hesitated but heck, I replied "sure.. why not".

I took a cab..again. Amen. *Church bell strike* Ok..no excuses. I was late, I took a cab, as usual. No choice. Anyway, the meeting destination changed to Suntec and was reverted by to Raffles CSC. We proceeded to PS (third time this week) shortly. There, 30 mintues or so before the clinche of 4 decided to get our hands on a arm's length tall Hello Kitty from this Hello Kittish shop plus a hand massager from Osim, Best Denki. Both costs around $170+. Reasonable bargain. Hmm.

I typed my appeal letter to my university. I "da bao" again. Tax this time. Sigh, it certainly cast doubts as to whether I have what it takes to be an auditor. Questions whether I cut out to be one when I can't handle academic issues relating to tax and accounting. I discussed with Mohan. He gave pretty good advice: "If your work's your life, you better make sure this is the job you really want. Else, make your job a part of your life by making sure life has other things than your job."

Thing is I do love my job. However, as at now, I'm afraid if I don't work, I'd have nothing else to do. I get bored easily. Just do feel imcompetent when I do something.

Oh well, these long weekend was superb, except the part "with a friend". Next week.. Changi Airfreight Centre for audit!! Ready or not, here I come!

De one with Outing Again

Better

Fruitful weekend. I met up with Zhen Ze, Guang hui and his "friend", Xue Yun who was actually GH's girlfriend. Woke up at 6am this morning. Don't know why so. But I returned to sleep after opening all posts. Until Zhen Ze rang me up at 10+ afterwhich I went for a 5km run.

While Zhen Ze was late because he left house without his EZ-link card and when back for retrieval. The lovebirds turned up punctually. Surprisingly becuase I've never impressioned GH to be one who's gonna be arriving on time. Yes, I've never felt more brighter than the 30 mins spent with the couple who held hands whenever they go. Not that it's jealousy or what.. just feeling uncomfortable beign a gooseberry. God, I hate being one.

Anyway, we watched City of Ember. Not really fantastic but hey, it was entertaining for a sunday. The show storylined the appraching doomsday of an underground city, City of Ember, which is highly dependent on light generated on hydro-electrical power. Then there were two 12 year olds, Lina Mayfleet and Doon Harrow who embarked on adventurous journey of oods to pursue a way out which Lina discovered using the clues she obtained from this instructional menu, kept in this box which was supposedly passed down from her uncle (the former 7th Mayor of the City).

The effects were not "wow" but rather simple mechanics, old town settings. The interesting part was the revealing part on how the two kids found a way out of the City. Nothing special la..

We had lunch and dinner at Billy Bombers and this foodcourt at Cineleisure respectively. Went shopping for abit. Me? I'm just glad I managed to have purchased the latest Britney Spears album. Watched the changed singer's "Womaniser" mtv. I can't deny, she's still as hot as ever, the same as her tune-addictive songs.

Not forgetting, the good of having went out with these friends after quite some time.

De one with A Friend

Dedicated to a friend

I don't enjoy hurting people. No. Not preaching that I'm an angel. Very sure I'm not. anyway Nobody is except Mother Theresa would qualify that identity. Nonetheless, all my life I've never ever wanna hurt anybody because I know how it feels to be hurt.

Not afraid nor ashamed of my history of being a screwed-up in my relationships and those stupid things I committed as a result of my peculiar perfectionist's possessiveness. That's primarily, due to me having asked and got forgiveness from my three exes.

Karma. Something I believe in. What goes around comes around. I hurt people emotionally and I got punished for that maybe.

Since the departure of Mummy, I begun to realise the importance of friendship. Unfortunately, I didn't know how to express myself back then. Till today, the sad truth remains. I only have friends whom I could related to and trust me when I say my left hand is enough to account for them. The rest are just friendly citizens.

I have never been more disappointed with myself. Or perhaps, disappointed in myself because of someone else. I always thought I have always been a friend who could occupy a significant bit in those I hold close to my heart. Turns out again and again, certain events just prove the reality fallible. The sharp blow from this is fatal like a bullet which spins for the next 3 - 4 days until I put myself together again. This sucks, I accept humbly. However, it wears me out eventually because I am not born super or have regenerative powers.

I thought I was sensitive and someone whom my close friend would feel calm with my presence.. or trust me enough to confide her/himself in me. True is, they don't. And its aggravated tragedy when that someone takes you for a punching bag because she/he was disappointed in another whom she/he thought was her/his true friend.

Live and let live - A philosophy scarred in my brain. Most of the time, I'm just being concerned and simply searching for an answer where the root problem lies. I need to know this so I can make things right. Or work out an alternative. Guess, it's just so difficult when the person you may treasure most, do not trust you at all.

I... don't know what to say.. Could have just sleep over it.. who asked me to care? Did that person ever wanted me to do so initially? It's worthless responsibility.. sincere responsibility. Please, just don't push me off even when you know I am just trying to help.

De one with Something's Missing

Feeling incomplete

Supposed today's which alot of uni students look forward to. Simply because it's the very last day for examination and welcome the days to play. Well, not referring to everybody. I'm just glad my friends did. Like Mohan. We dined at Baker's Inn. Impromptu appointment at Vivo.

We patron River I and I just could refrain myself from purchasing this two suave-looking shirts. The temptation was irresistible. I wanted very much to own a pair of customised Addidas shoes. Unfortunately, Mohan's "Recession coming" spoke depth of his discouragement.

There was a Xmas fair going on. Mohan wanted to get new stuff for is Xmas. I advised him that he didn't need a new Xmas tree coz he could be a live Xmas tree. In this way, it would be cost-savvy and all that is necessary would be some ordinals and decorative stuff to hang unto himself. Lol.

In the end, this cautious shopper took about 15-20 mins before being convinced and confirmed his effort-worth selected table-throw. The price tag shown $13.90. When the cashier scanned and voiced payment for $17.90, Mohan alertedly said "wrong! wrong! the price should be $13.90." Damn funny.. Of course I didn't do nothing. I helped the assistant find the evidence at the shelf hor..

There was a moment, the reality got me thinking how would it be like if only my mum and Jimson were still alive to celebrate Xmas. Silly why I allowed this spilit-second emo hit me like a short-lived electric shock.

I have a job I love, good friends, material wants yet I can't help feeling something's missing in my life such that I feel rather insecure or incomplete. Gee..wonder what could that be >[

Mr Jason in half a year ago would become emo and have declining mood because he'd be hard-pressing for an answer, as though a drug addict urging for a dosage of "relieve". The new Mr Jason strongly believes it is undeniable that we feel incomplete from time to time. However, I believe in time, these "gaps" would reveal itself as our capacity and access to resources and opportunities grows.. I just need to nurture my patience. Good things comes to those who wait. I think I shall too.

De one with The Prince's Journey

Justify FullBack in action

I've never been happier. Proud to say it aloud. That's mainly because, the shopping prince's back in action. He strolled Raffles Place Shopping Centre, found nothing and headed down to Marina Square, bypassed Cityhall before extending his exploration to Plaza Singapura (where he helped gems-decorated princess find a pair of shoes which could bring her back to the ground and met a pope who just ended class). Next the prince advanced to Centrepoint (where he discovers exotic fragrances and the elixir of youth for his face), raced forth to The Hereen.

The Prince, the gem-deco Princess met up with the Pope and they headed to Paragon (where the Prince finally succumbed to the beauty of something magical of Crumpler). The Princess summoned the powers from her cell-phone and contacted the Lady of Tomato-in-the-can. The four counciled at Ngee Ann City. The royalty dinner was later served at The Hereen where the Thais presented a feast of Tom Yam soup, Prawn rice and Basil chicken rice. A-roi (means "Delicious" in Thai langauge)!

As you can read, I managed to buy a couple of things. It was abit physically endurance-demanding from my foot. But i'm just glad I found part answer as to why I've been feeling down these few days.

I finally own a Crumpler bag. I remember I used to dislike because it was just too common. No choice, there's not much decent bag and my current "informal" bags were torn. See, I'm those sendimental type, the bag's been with me for three years. So, ya.. time for change coz the old ones giving away. It's like Optimus Prime, haha.. yellow, red and blue. I love it. Am very sure I made the right choice!

Ok, time to sleep now. Tomorrow, I'm gonna do the tax for UMP and hand it up for review!

De one with The Shimmer

Happier

The surrounding glowed with joy the moment I managed to balance the cash flow statement for UMP. Something which was really bugging me since yesterday. In fact I was astonished about my achievement as it was something I'd never expected to be within my means. Haha. I told Efi, "I finally see some light"..

Just as I thought it was over, the shimmer turned into a gleam. Man, the problems just keep coming. I discover I got no way around the consol without getting the permanent consol journals. Omg. Sigh.. it's killing me.

A blog I read in the morning made my day. The words there in were beautiful. It talked about relationships in life and how one will have nothing except work when relationships are missing. Something which relates to my previous blog about feeling alone. Or better, it's seems to provide an answer to why I have been lonely nowadays. Finally, I do agree that relationships are to be treasure. So to my friends out there, I do sincerely treasure you guys and gals ok! Friendships with me are as good or else, way better and rewarding than life policies.

I had the weirdest dream yesterday - My boss terminated my services. Told Clara about it. The girl said I was too stressed. Rebecca also commented the same. The manager feedback that my face expressed nothing but stress since last week. Omg. I swear I've never felt more deprived and dispirited ever in dreamland, considering my heavy commitment to work.

Speaking of work, time's gripping me by the neck. Totally suck coz I don't like to be chased for something. It makes me feel like I'm lousy in personal time-cum-task management. And I regret, I should have detected all those info I need right from the beginning. still inexperience to do so. But if I did, it'd have expediate everything, prematuring the end of my agony. No use crying over spilled milk, gotta gather info and pave a resolution-path!

De one with Bad Day

Bad day

That is why it rained. Apparently, it has been raining all week. Yup, since last week which falls on days when my mood is totally low.

This UMP is getting nowhere. It's like as I continue to do, mistakes and earlier-undiscovered uncertainties surfaces, calling for delays as time needs to be spent to solve and convince myself of these bugging issues. I'm stuck again.. having trouble doing the cash flow before I can proceed with the consolidation, followed by report typing prior to kicking the assignment's arse off.

Headache man.. headache.. It's never ending!

"Where is the moment we needed the most?"

Jason badly needs some sunshine or warmth. I kept thinking this lonely cub has got nothing to look forward to. Everybody's having exams. Clara needs to work. Zhen Ze missing eh. Every night after work, I just return home via long journey on bus. Cost-saving alright.

As I climbed up the stairs, a path revisited for centuries, couldn't help being amused when I think of how funny it is as I grew older, all the youth's exhilaration of being able to return home to watch tv have degraded to nothing but loneliness, exhaustion.. Maybe this is part of growing up. Or maybe, I don't carry some X-men storybook, Yakult or a packet of Mariold milk distributed in school, other than this solemn black Braun Buffel bag.

Sometimes I wonder, why "bad days" have to befall on me. Karma? Or what.. Arrgghh, get away, shoo..

De one with Saturday Movie!

Finally, leisure

Saturday is when people hang out at Orchard Road, do town. I'm really just glad I have friends who accompanied me for this Saturday, considering I've had a lousy, tensed week from work.

I went back to work for a couple of hours. What else, pineapple. After that, Yiwei suggested for Efi and Alice to accompany me for some coffee. Otherwise, I'd be spending time alone on some long bus-journey for that idealing 1 hour before I get to meet Clara.

He drove us to Great World City. We had desserts at Mac. Didn't talk much but it was the accompany which delighted me. My colleagues ain't bad huh..

Clara arrived earlier than I expected. All thanks to her colleague who gave her a lift, entitling her with her complaints about me being late. Ah ha.. I did that the last time we met during my exams prep. Guess that explains why the saying "What goes around, comes around".

There was limited dinning place available, considering the late timing, 10:40pm, we met. So the both of us hit Mos Burger.

Awww.. it's very very long since I have had been to the movies. We watched Madagascar II which was freaking amusing. We got to know how Alex got to NY central zoo. Their planned trip back to NY turned out disasterous. Landing these animals estrangled in Africa. In this survival rules habitat, the new comers try to fit in. Norman proposed to Gloria. Gloria finds a new date. Marty realised he isn't unique. Alex found his birth parents and convinces to his dad that he's a true lion. Oh yes.. it was funny. Not forgetting it's opening of th penguines discarding the Dreamwork's fishing-boy and saying how do you think they will like sushi?

Went home around 1:30+. Super dubber tired but I'm such I sleep with a smile on my face tonight =)

De one with Spice

Cautious, it's Hot!

Does your tongue recall the aftermath effect of eating a chunk of wasabe by mistake? Or a split-second cut inflicted on the back of your arm before it bleeds and that sharp pain which follows after the shock has worn away? Yes, this is the feeling I'm experiencing.. with my job.

I've always thought determined perseverance would pave challenges. Turned out I was wrong. No doubt it's adventurous. But there are times it kills your brain cells due to "overwork-iness", it kinda get abit frustrating. Not to mention, I feel "heated-up" as if my internal body's burning in flames whenever I get stressed.

I thought I had it in control. Turns out as I do the audit report, anyalsis the previous year's audit report and taking reference to a few other audit reports, "choregraphing" (I'm good at this), it revealed alot of unnoticed mistake and dilemma's. And nope, I wouldn't allow the slightest mistake. And you know what kills me most. It is trying to figure out what the previous auditor has done, who had the advantage of having all the past history info, which is obviously unavailable and will not be asessible to us. Sigh. It'll definately be a piece of cake for them if they were doing the audit this year!

Man... And all of the sudden, there's so much assignments which I've completed and I had to send out the documents like the "finale" when client return us the signed documents. Oh god, help me. It's demoralising.

Not that I'm an eavesdropper but I overheard my boss' conversation with this SITC director (I did the audit for them last year). They were discussing (openly) about the course their children were attending. About SMU graduates are good and thus, rapidly employed. And I thought, where do my uni stand? Am I like in a university which stereotyped or perhaps, truly imply that I'm at the bottom of the heap? Does that mean that my uni-cert is worth anything less than others?

Self-pitying? Emo? I don't think so. It's an awkward moment of questioning myself as to who will I be and what my future employers are gonna think about me. Does employers judge you based on impression of previous education institutes you graduate from? Bimbos and himbos are superficial. I guess such employers are "even worse" than them.

Anyway, I've not been sleeping enough. The entire week I was pulling a black face at work, didn't take much lunch. Don't have time for that. Brought my work back to do through the night. It was alot tough than my preparation for exams.

Guess my weekends will be burnt. Audit spice. Incinerating me up with exhaustion. Sigh. This job's an arson, I tell you. Omg. Hehe

I watched Wall-E today. It was heart-warming, cute robots who didn't talk. Which explains why Pixel had to make them adorable, to appeal and fill those box-office. Well.. but it is interesting, the fact that the show's telling us to treasure Earth (like try not to have so much waste) and you'll become a blob of fats and forgot all about how to walk on your feets if everything had been automated. Haha. I couldn't agree more, it's very true!

There.. the only nicest thing that I did which made me happy. Back to slogger this weekend, next week and finish this damn, delayed job!

De one with Increasing Pressure

Knock, knocked, knocking

Knock Knock.
Who's there?
Nothing...
"Nothing"? Nothing who?
Nothing better to do...
*di-ao~

Yes! I have nothing better to do. Even there is, work seemed to capsize every moment I'm awake. What's worse? It fills every milli-seconds with nothing but pressure. Trust me, it's increasing 1mph but the second.

Thank god, I managed to come up with a draft Income statement, balance sheet and all the necessary audit adjustments for UMP, who had been chasing me for over a month (my exams in between). Although there are times I get so affected by the tension from accounting dilemmas, dreadful moments of cracking my brains to understand what have and what should be done, the job's challenging and I'm glad I derived knowledge and satisfaction. Not being my highest audit remuneration job, but I handled the job, which was a take-over from PwC.

Now and then, my previous-completed jobs came haunting me because Rebecca finally finished reviewing the files. Thus, I had hold my current work to attend to it. I don't really like that, but can't be help.

Haven't been eating well. Symptoms of gastric is showing. I had Starbucks croissant and sandwiches for two consecutive nights, can you believe it? Missed my Tuna Melt Ciabatta. Unfortunately, they revamped the sandwiches menu. Puff! There goes one of my favourites from Starbucks.

Want to draw but no time.. wondered where my time management skills have disappeared to. It's time to bring healthy back too.. Thought year end's supposed to be "lau" ("slack" in Singlish) period. Hmm.. as far as my current work schedule, it's suggesting otherwise.

My biceps' aching. Think I over-strained from all those arms workout. Hmm... wonder where have my friends gone too..

De one with Desperate Housewives

Relaxing weekend

Desperate Housewives Seasons 4: Sizzling secrets involved the efforts of over 150 staff. It took weeks to produce, more than two months to have the DVD shipped into Singapore. And less than two days for me to complete the entire 17 episodes. Hehe.

Ask me why I enjoy watching this drama which is commonly stereotyped to be nothing educational except mindless domestic household issues, housewives bitching and sex-appeals for boys' fantasies? Tsk tsk, ask me, ask me! Hmm, sorry to disappoint but all these do not come close to my reasons.

I adore the drama simply because I get to learn about people's behaviour and they way they react to issues. No offence but most locals lack of expressions in their reaction to our behaviour, actions. Like what are people normally say/can't say/better "said" through our actions (like holding hands, hugging another to comfort others). Of course, not saying I pick everything up, I just pick up certain phrases which I could mean instead of having to use a string of sentences to mean what I want to say. Call me noosey-parker or what, I guess I love to see and understand about people, so I do know how to deal with them. It's like practising review questions in your tutorials so you know what to do when the live examination occurs.

Not much moral issues to learn but hey, we can still benefit some wits from these amazingly interesting characters. Then again, I must say, there were a few moments which never failed to touch my heart. The scripts were just great.

With the good comes the not-so-good. Every season there was a mystery to be revealed. The one in this season wasn't really suspensingly unfolded. Apart from mysterie, the seasons always end with a wedding. There was a gay wedding but wasn't really completely filmed. No newly-weds vow-exchange scene. Not glamourous, breath-taking wedding-settings. Oh well, perhaps scene-cuts in fear of anticipated controversies from the audience's cognitive.

Can't wait for the fifth seasons to come. I'll wait for the original merchandised seasons to be out! Meantime, anyone wants to borrow my 4 sets of Desperate Housewives? Rental's at say S$40 a day? Just kidding.. Hehe

De one with Office

While I was on study leave

A meteoroid hit my office which launched cold war. To make things worst, there was female politics. No, I'm not gonna bitch about. My ethic sensitivity is more than adequate to discuss the factual details.

What I need to say is, I hate politics. I can understand fully it is inevitable. But hey, most of the time, just think, "Is this necessary?"

Alright, Clara's gonna pinch my elvish ears if she hears this "Or what is it with women".

I don't like politics. Not a single bit. You can bitch about someone or something. But hell, just say your piece and forget about it after completing your last sentence about that someone. Of course, not saying with the motive to spread rumors for "campaign" purpose.

What I prefer? Just be honest. Call me naive but I think, it's not cool at all creating an unpleasant work environment. And more critically, to be in the cross-fire territory.

De one with S19A

S19A: 100% or 33.3% Accelerated tax claim for capital allowances

Let me paint a picture in your mind. Beneath the blanket of stars and moonlight, tall crystal glasses of shiraz. Sitting on dry, soft virgin carpet grass. A secluded spot in the wide park, scented with critus or vanilla candles. A free orchestra of distance crickets. This would the idea setting where I'd very much love to have my proposal to be.

And suddenly... a hasty wind came, the surprised fireworks trigger off at the wrong time. The overwhelming glare replaced the intended surprise finale. Due to the intense change in temperature, condensed clouds started to form and it couldn't hold my longer that a downpour came. No, it is indeed not ideal.

This is the ending when one's too impulsive, impatient or too determined to get what they want. Of course, not that the above behavior is ineffective. Don't develop a mis-perception. It does work sometimes and it fuels your motivation to get a job done. Especially with people who don't coorperate.

I wished feelings could be like this. Unfortunately, it's not. Yes, I'm always speeding. Practically with things or people I want so dearly. And what speeding does? You get a red ticket.

Before I continue on, I just wish to clarify nope, I didn't not commit the same "crime" or make any silly decisions lately. I just thought, it's time to be honest with myself.

I live my life in a way which is pretty much similar to claming capital allowances under S19A of the Singapore income tax act. That is, most of the time it's accelerated. And end up, regretting some. Others... maybe not.

As much as I have learn to bounce back rapidly, I realised there were a couple more ways which I could deal with the "disaster" of psychiatric-decisions I've made.

Besides handling my emotions, keeping them into a box and dealing with them later. Like what Bree from Desperate Housewives says. Apart from letting go. I've discovered lately I needed to give second opinions about staff I've decided on. To my horror, my second opinions often made me embarrassed and realise what a fool I was to have chose something undesirable.

And I'm happy. This boy's growing.

De one with Kiss Exams Goodbye

Time to celebrate

The red digit representing the minute displayed against the black-background digital clock in the exam hall, jumped and marked the end of my exam period. I should be pouring with joy and relieve yet I felt I could have done better.

Corporate accounting - I was confident of my consolidation this time round. Equity accounting was great too. However, trouble spells from the tax questions and double entries on acquisition with numerous considerations. Oh, well, ope I can pass this module this semester.

Organisational Behaviour was interesting. Like marketing, too interesting to be an examined module. It's something for us to understand and apply in our daily life. It is better to aid our interpretation of behaviours around us. Well, exam's just too tough. So many things to memories. When I decide to use, bits of my memory mulfunction. Things like the leadership styles of Gensis Likert. I recalled all his leadership styles except the founder's name himself, which refrained me to include this in my answers. Sigh. Time management was abit off. There were two sections, both weighed 20%. I didn't really recall what exactly did I answer in Section B (case study). All I remembered was "staff participatory", "empowerment" appeared in my sentences repeatedly.

Today was the final exam on Singapore taxation. I couldn't agree more the theory questions were manageable. Just that the computation (3/7 of the entire marks) was just too demanding. 180 minutes spent in answering. Man, I should have better utilised my time in another question which I knew how to do. Only in the last 5 minutes. Sad. I loved taxation, especially the part on personal reliefs, things which are applicable to real-life. Too bad, none of these came out during the exam.

Well, no use crying over spilled milk (all the poor time management during exams and inadequate time for preparation). Guessed I'll just have to look forward, pray hard for better-than expected results.

Funny now that exams are over, all those things I realised I wanted to do seemed to vanish from all the detectable spaces in my brain. All that's speaking of what to do comes mainly from my heart. It's whining for desires.

I have no idea how I got involved in this XForex thing and the people's using international calls to contact me. Eee..as much as I'm thrilled by this whole new experience, I am pretty concerned if the long-distance calls received are gonna inflate my handphone bills next month. Oh dear...

De one with Catching Up

Back-dated

*Grinning* I knew I should have post this up. Don't say I lack the sincerity, was really occupied with my revision for OB. "__"

My closest friend (errhum, apart from Mohan), text me for an impromptu lunch. Ok, I can't help it but just gotta get it off my chest.. I took two hours off his precious mugging schedule and Miss Scatterbrain turned up late. Nope, your "pre-exam-distress-gift" (Chocz) wouldn't excuse you from being late. Kdding la, thank you so much! Must repeat my appreciation once again. I shall put the chocolates in my first-aid kit, in case I'm sad again. =P

I had a craving for Japanese crusine. Look at the pictures below and you'll know where we went!

Freaking cute, wouldn't you agree? Bad part, the system wasn't very responsive and I had to finger-punch the eye while clicking my orders (SPCA committee, please understand...) LOL

And.. the rubberband fetish-eater did it again! (PS, circled in fade yellow). I tried to convinced her those jellyfish were processed from rubberbands or rubber scrapped off the bicycle tyres. Clara, ignorantly unaffected, just don't buy it and continues her feast.

I tell you, lunch was salty. I dropped my Spicy Salmon Gunkan into my soy sauce while talking to Clara. Looks like I've gotta visit NKF for a check-up soon. Wait, don't think they offer such check-up service in the first place...

Little did I expect a full workout installed for my tastebud when Clara wanted to have dessert at this basement store!

Sushi was salty. Now this eh, I tell you.. Mango-Pomelo pudding. It's rich with 3 tastes. Sweetness can be found in the pudding itself (because it's real blended mango, no syrup or preservatives). Sourness was saturated in the mango bits. Included was bitterness, evident in the pomelo strips. Ave Maria.

The girl, who craved for dessert, had Oor~ni (Yam paste with Ginko nuts). She was half-way through, we looked at each other and interrupted girl said, "I know what you're thinking, don't.." Our chemistry was super amusing. After thinking for awhile, I concluded the yam paste looked like semi-melted hair wax. Initially I mentioned mashed uhu-glue (those in stick form). Omg, I just can't stop making fun of the food she eats. Think I'd need to go for Church this Sunday lo.. (it's a metaphor)

Moreover this was her all time favourite dessert, most looked forward to during her attendence at wedding dinner. End up... she completed everything, except the Ginko nuts. (Bravo lah, missy!)

What was initially planned to be an hour or two extended to nearly three hours before I got back to studies. For catching up, it was worth it.

Currently I'm revising OB, Organisation Behaviour. There's a chapter on communication, it says it is the transferrence and understanding of meaning. Main functions include communicating emotions, information, motivation and control.

So, accordingly, did this blog entry displayed the above elements? I have emoticons, lots of descriptive, the picture must have enticed you to feel like eating.. control, did I get your attention or your disgusted thoughts, having read my descriptions for food.. well, I guess I did!!

Boy, I love my module!

De one with New Life Objectives

Don't say. Act and Take Control

Evening I was sitting in front of the television with my lappy on my laps. And I thought, it's time I wake up and re-defined my purposes in life.

Wishing to live in the past or not aging are plain naivety. It's time to stop dreaming about finding my true someone. Should just discard it at the back of my mind and let nature takes its course. There's a saying: "The more you want it, the further it gets."

What I really want and ought to strive for is do and get what it takes to be a successful audit partner. Competent and witty in tax and audit.

What's success without a home, another of my identified objective in life is to get a condo unit. My Hume Avenue? I'm humble enough, I just pluck one of the few C's every man should have.

I know I'm 23 but since most successful people die young, I suppose I'll just identify it now and see if I've achieved when I'm in my 60s. It would be wonderful if people would write history about me. Perhaps I shall publish my memoirs? Of course, it better be a sold-out publication!

Goals includes a successful audit partner, verse in tax too.Ambitions are for wishful people who dream. Goals are for fevered soccer players, motivators. Objectives are the final destinations to be achieved.

De one with Gospel Truth

Fruitful day

Jogging freshen me up in the morning! The sun-beamed warm air against my cheeks, and feeling lighter and regenerated as I perspire. Today, I'm unquestionably born for the sun.

Hmm, wondered where did the rain go to? Well, most probably my improved mood is responsible (it rains everytime I'm sad). My revision finally shed some light. At least now, i'm more confident of where am I heading with all the studying. Ermm.. there are still rooms for improvement. Two more days to exams fever, would deny I'm responding to the growing pressure.

Lately, there has been a trend of funerals around the neighbourhood. Part of the recruiment drive during the economic crisis or what?

Witnessed one "sending" ceremony (for sending the departed to the crementorium or burial grounds) on my way back from the market after getting breakfast. Not affected personally la. I just... empathised with the parties involved. It must have been painful.

I don't know why, I was reminded of people who don't feel anything to this. Maybe they are just plain ignorant. Not cursing or being outright biased here alright. A teasing thought surfaced in my mind: I just can't wait to "survey/sight" how they would react when they experience the same man. Nope nope! not cursing la. Just being mischievous for abit.

I had to monitor my doggie so that she will eat her dinner. I swear she's damn hard to please.. Just dinner and you need accompany so that you'll feed?

It occurred to me, if a dog needs accompany, what more a human being?

Not degrading or comparing myself to a dog, but the truth is, I need human interraction too. In this aspect, I expect and demand alot. Honestly speaking, this is so with my friends. I didn't want to be like this but i just can't help being such a perfectionist. ( I can be a spoiled brat too but hey, it's interchangeable). The important thing is knowing clearly what I want to see, do or hear, I could go overboard when I'm overwhelmed or determined. Tell you~ I might just deviate from my reserved self to become very outspoken in times like this. Of course, there's always damage control to follow up, having admitted my bad. Post-reflection event.

If you're wondering I think too much. Truth is, I don't. You barely see any white hair on my head! Oh well, is that a disadvantaged of being a himbo and not using too much of the brain huh? Haha.

Ok, let's not divert. Recently, there's one such incident. A spur of a moment which involved some friendly attachment which end turning unreasonable.. with a friend. Subsequently, an apology was sent. However, our friendship remained stagnant. My attempts to bring back the friendly conversations were met with hostility, a bit of sarcasm (?)

I know being nice to others and treasuring them doesn't warrant similar responses. (Obviously, my favourite Newton's third law of motion doesn't apply effectively as a life philosophy here). This is why I let go. Give up trying and move on with others. My "guy-genes" recommended me not to care.

Sendiment is commendable but it also damages ourselves if we hold too much faith in them. This is not pessimism. It's my obiter dictum.

"The heart shall take the back-seat and throne the brain's prevalence." No point in bothering ourselves with whom who doesn't geniunely treasure you as a friend. You can't force them too.

Not awarding myself with a consolation, but come on, it's the other party's loss anyway.

I don't like to express myself outfront because i always end up saying the wrong things. Most of the time, the outcome becomes an offense. Also, it's not sincere anymore if I employed my wits to manoveur my way to make someone understand. Moreover, we don't have time to communicate. Then you ask me, why am I blogging all these here? Well.. I like to blog and forget all about it after the "publish post" button is clicked. Perhaps, it's entertainment the next time I read about it when I'm bored.

Man, I feel so much radiant-ier. The best evidence? Get down with my debut in my previous blog man! Yup, sunshine is back! Ay-bah!

De one with Coverboy Debut

Never before

Had nothing to do, so I picked up my Omnia camera, flexed a few facial expressions and took some fun shots. If there's one thing to cheer you readers up, hope this is it! Don't puke. Hehe.

Maybe some not so fun... Anyway, how was this one-minuted debut? Man, my face feels so tired now, you better say it's good! Lol
